Our problem revolved around ensuring a seamless flow across a large area that included a previously completed front yard and a large backyard with a pool house. The challenge was to make the pool house, home, and the area in between feel like cohesive parts of one property while maintaining distinct characteristics for the home and poolhouse, which serve different functions. The homeowners' love for tending to their yard allowed us to choose from a broader plant palette, adding complexity to the design.
Our solution focused on deeply understanding the intended use of the space, as effective landscaping is about ensuring that outdoor areas are well-utilized. By comprehending the homeowners' desires, we were able to shape our approach, material selection, and even the lighting options to create a harmonious design. We carefully selected materials and plants that complemented both the existing front yard and the new backyard, creating a unified yet distinct look for the home and poolhouse areas. This thoughtful approach ensured that the entire property felt cohesive while allowing each space to maintain its unique character.
