Located in the prestigious Spanish Oaks community, this contemporary home was a study in bold lines and minimalist architecture—but the lot itself presented challenges beneath the surface. The sloped site created complex drainage issues, requiring a solution that would protect the home’s foundation while maintaining clean, uncluttered finishes. Additionally, the logistics of transporting heavy materials—including steel, block, and tile—into the tight site without damaging the surroundings demanded detailed coordination and care.
To bring harmony to both form and function, we began by addressing the site’s slope and drainage with a carefully engineered underground system, directing runoff away from the home and hardscape zones. We then installed a series of CMU (concrete masonry unit) planters and custom-fabricated steel edging and structures, offering crisp definition while echoing the home’s modern lines.
A finely tuned tilework installation provided a sophisticated finish to key walking surfaces, elevating the hardscape experience without visual clutter. Korean grass was introduced as a low-profile, textural groundcover—offering a soft counterpoint to the angular architecture. Landscape lighting was installed to highlight structural elements and plant forms, creating elegant nighttime views and ensuring safe passage through the terraced space.
Throughout construction, material transport and staging were executed with precision, minimizing impact on the site while achieving a refined, fully integrated landscape. The result is a crisp, modern garden that feels architectural, intentional, and entirely at home in Spanish Oaks.
The homeowner wanted a landscape that would match the home’s precise geometry while introducing softness through curated planting and material balance. Every detail—from planter placement to lighting—needed to feel purposeful, modern, and aligned with the architectural vision.
